Collective Voice is delighted that a new national forum for substance misuse commissioners in England is to be established, supported by the Local Government Association and the Association of Directors of Public Health.
The forum will ‘provide a strategic national space in which to bring together those with commissioning responsibility in local government, and enable a representative commissioner voice.’ The new forum was revealed in June’s edition of DDN magazine in an article by public health specialist commissioner Chris Lee (Lancs) and Director of Public Health Professor Jim McManus (Herts).
Responding to the news of the forum, Collective Voice Director Oliver Standing said:
‘Commissioners are a vital part of a robust, healthy and effective treatment and recovery sector. It is great news that there will now be a forum for commissioners to come together as a representative body, particularly in light of the Covid-19 emergency, which has so clearly demonstrated the need for collaboration and partnership.’
